Le Jardin

Music between worlds.

Lyrop is the musical project of Rotterdam-based producer Maarten Lierop, a keyboardist, accordionist and bandoneon player with a deep affection for old-school analogue synthesizers. His music rarely settles within a single genre, moving instead through the spaces between neotango, ambient, electronica and cinematic sound.

His current project "Le Jardin des animaux électriques" grows from that instinct to bring different worlds together. Synthesizers, orchestral colours, restless rhythms and fragments of voice coexist with the breath and movement of acoustic instruments. Some sounds are played, some programmed, and others discovered by accident or along a detour. What matters is not where they came from, but the life they bring. A garden never asks its creatures to resemble one another. It gives roots somewhere to deepen, wings somewhere to unfold, and even the strangest forms of life a place among the leaves. Beneath the music lies that same quiet conviction: there is no single right way to exist, to create, or to become. Here, the organic and the synthetic roam side by side. And every creature, however strange, however made, finds its own path and place.
